Conflict Map
In the news
How to read this. Orange circles are places named in news reports about strikes or fighting in the last 6 hours (GDELT). Red dots are satellite thermal anomalies in the last 24 hours (NASA FIRMS), with persistent heat sources such as gas flares filtered out. A ringed red dot sits within 15 km of an orange place. Neither layer confirms an attack: heat can be a wildfire or an industrial fire, and GDELT codes events automatically, so places and event types are sometimes wrong. Treat every point as a lead to verify, not a finding. Night lights (optional layer) is a fixed NASA composite of the Earth at night, shown for context: bright areas are cities and industry, dark areas are sparsely settled or switched off. It is not a live view. Ship dots (optional layer) are vessels with an AIS signal in the last 30 minutes near key chokepoints, from AISStream: a lower bound, since some ships switch AIS off or spoof it, and not for navigation.
