Earthlog · Signals on the faultlines
What governments, central banks and militaries did: rate decisions, Treasury and reserve moves, sanctions, deployments, alliance decisions. A running log, newest first.
How to read the labels. Official action: the headline reports a decision or action that was announced or taken. Media report: based on reports or unnamed sources, not confirmed by the actor. Claim: one side's assertion, not independently confirmed. Labels come from the wording of the headline, so treat them as a guide and check the linked source.
How far along. Announcements are not the same as change on the ground. Intent: plans, pledges, talks, “exploring”. Agreement: a deal or MoU signed, but non-binding or awaiting ratification. Binding: a law, decree or treaty adopted. In effect: already happening, such as a rate changed or forces deployed. The stage is judged from the headline only, and when unclear the lower stage is chosen.
Primary source. The entry comes straight from the actor's own publication, such as a central bank or government press release, rather than from a news report. Those entries are always labelled Official action.
Entries are selected and summarised automatically from news headlines and official press releases, and each summary is checked against its headline. Not investment advice.
