Earthlog · Signals on the faultlines
Which diseases are showing unusual signs right now, and where. A disease is flagged only when independent signals agree: public attention, official notices, news coverage and, for COVID-19 and flu, wastewater.
Official notices from WHO, ECDC and CDC from the last 14 days, plus news reports from the last 7 days. News reports are shown with a dashed marker because they are not yet confirmed by an official notice.
How to read this. Corroborated means two or more signals agree. Single signal means only one fired, which is a reason to watch, not a conclusion. The signals: Attention, daily Wikipedia pageviews well above the disease's own 60-day norm; Official notice, WHO, ECDC or CDC published something naming the disease in the last 14 days; News, three or more health-news items naming it in the last week; Wastewater, the share of US wastewater sites reporting high virus levels is rising (COVID-19 and influenza only).
Pageview spikes can come from films, TV or celebrity news, which is why attention alone never counts as corroborated. This is an automated screen, not a medical or investment opinion; check the linked sources.
